Em & Mat were married at The Springs in Peats Ridge.
This is what they had to say about their big day.
How did you meet? We met in High School, a classic teenager romance. Neither of us has ever had to worry about dating, or tinder. But at the same time, we had alot of growing up to do. We couldn't stay away from each other, and it ended up working out perfectly.
What was the first thing you decided on as a couple when arranging your big day? The first thing we decided on was the music. We both have similar tastes so that part was super easy!
What wedding vibe were you after? The vibe we were after was bright and cheerful, of course! Its the best way to describe our approach to life and to our relationship.
How did you decide on your venue? We chose the venue that could offer us the full package of service to avoid any unnecessary stress on the day. There was plenty of stress even without all those extra tasks!
What was the most stressful part of the planning process? One of the most stressful parts of the planning was actually the guests. So many last minute pull-outs, and deciding who to invite in the first place. I'm very glad I had my close family with me to help me make decisions.
What was the best thing you did to make your wedding easier? The best thing we did to make the wedding easier was probably the venue. It had the full package - food, drinks, ceremony, reception, even audio equipment. I was very glad to have their event coordinator on hand to personalise the experience and provide amazing service, while keeping us in the loop. It was a bit more expensive then what we were hoping for, but the results were worth it.
Lots of people get nervous before their wedding, did you? I did get very nervous, very suddenly. The trick is to have a dear loved one walking you down the isle. I'm glad I wasn't restricted to "tradition" and allowed my mum to be with me at that moment. No one else could have held me together like she did.
Who was your stand out vendor? My stand out vendor was actually you, Sarita! You were wonderful and really made the ceremony feel special. It felt like it went by quickly at the time, but now I think back and can remember so many great moments from the ceremony. It was perfect and I couldn't possibly change a thing.
Is there anything that you would change about your day? The ONLY thing I would change is, I would want the meals to come out faster, so that everyone could start partying quicker! We had Karaoke at our wedding, and it was definately the funnest part. I just wish it could have lasted longer. I think the gaps between meals were too long, and dragged it out too much. Other then that, everything was perfect!
Have you got any advise for a couple planning their wedding? My advice for other couples planning a wedding, is to do whatever feels the most "you". If you are a couple that doesn't need all the flashy extras, then have a quiet day with close loved ones. If you want a huge party and all the bells and whistles, go for it! Just make it all about you and your to-be spouse. Don't let social expectations or standing traditions dictate how your day should look!
